Hi everyone. I’m Simon, 21, from Kenya. Three years ago, my mom passed, and I’ve been raising my little brother alone ever since. He’s now 13. I had managed to build a small freelance writing income through SEO/content work, and for a while, it helped us survive. But I lost both my clients last year, one due to AI, the other ghosted me while still owing me money. Since then, I’ve had to resort to underpaid manual labour on local farms and construction sites just to buy a single meal. It takes up all my daylight hours, completely wears me down physically, and doesn’t even come close to covering our basic living expenses. This past week, we’ve really struggled to find food to eat. There’s almost no food in my house right now, and our electricity is about to get shut off. Right now, we are 4 months behind on rent. It’s $150 a month, so we owe $600 total, and my landlord told me we’ll be kicked out this month if I can’t pay. My immediate goal is to clear at least one month ($150) as soon as possible to stop the eviction and buy us some time. I’m not asking for pity, I just need practical advice or work leads to help us get through this. Is there anything I can do TODAY to earn even $20 online so I can buy food, keep the lights on, and start working toward that rent?
