I have a question. I (27M) met a man (31M) and he was charming, sweet, and funny at first, but then he started criticising what I wore constantly. He had strong opinions about my nails, he insisted I should always wear white polish and criticised them no matter what I chose. Even if i had hand-drawn them myself and was excited to show them, his go-to would be to push his white nails agenda (i dont even like white nails). He picked apart what I wore too. Sometimes it was too revealing, other times too modest, nothing I chose was ever right. He always had something to say about my clothes or accessories when we’d meet. He had a very macho attitude and dismissed my more feminine hobbies (like pottery) as “too gay" if I invited him in. I mentioned this to a guy friend, and he said he’d never heard of anything like it. So my question is, how common is this kind of behaviour? Is there a reason for it? Im trying to wrap my head around it. submitted by /u/collectionsofwords
