Saw this article today saying that after a Swiss Federal Court ruling and new guidance from SEM earlier this year, cantons are no longer supposed to restrict job changes for non-EU/EFTA B permit holders the way they used to. https://www.visahq.com/news/2026-02-24/ch/swiss-federal-court-ruling-removes-job-change-restrictions-for-non-eu-b-permit-holders/ Sounds like:

  • Cantons are not supposed to attach “no job change” conditions to B permits anymore
  • Non-EU B permit holders may be able to switch employers without prior authorization and the usual process where the employer has to prove that no Swiss/EU person could take the job (?) SEM info already seems to be updated: “When and under what conditions can an employee from a third country change job within Switzerland? […] As a general rule, holders of ‘B’ permits can change job without further authorisation” submitted by /u/TreacleNo98
