TLDR; If the raid is Guthix’s archive of dangerous relics, it would be amazing and thematic if the rewards were to feel like an assortment of immensely powerful legendary artifacts, not necessarily a matching armor set. After reading the latest blog about rewards from The Fractured Archive, I actually think the dev team is circling the right idea when it comes to the rare rewards. The section that resonated the most with me was the final paragraph where they talk about standalone items with interesting mechanics instead of a full armour set. Honestly, I think that direction fits the theme of the raid perfectly. The Fractured Archive is supposed to be Guthix’s vault of powerful artifacts. I.E., relics collected and stored away because of their immense power. If that’s the lore framing, it makes way more sense for the rewards to feel like individual legendary items rather than a cohesive armor set. A coordinated armor set implies something crafted together for a purpose. But a collection of ancient artifacts? Those should/could feel disconnected, mysterious, and powerful in their own right. Instead of the reward pitch being: “Here’s the new raid armor set," it could feel more like: “You’re breaking into Guthix’s archive and pulling out incredibly dangerous relics.” Those were my ruminations on the feelings of the rewards, below is the main ideas I’ve had about rewards befitting a raid. One thing I would absolutely love to see is a the Divine Spirit Shield. Not necessarily a direct copy of the RS3 version, but inspired by it. Back in the day the Divine Spirit Shield converted incoming damage into prayer drain, letting players tank insane hits as long as they had prayer to sustain it. Obviously OSRS would need its own tuning, but the concept is awesome. Something like, converting a portion of incoming damage into prayer drain (or converting damage dealt to prayer GAIN? Similar to how blood shard heals you?) Or, storing overkill damage dealt and applies it to next hit as a bonus hit? Could introduce a legendary defensive item again, and fits perfectly with the idea of Guthix storing dangerous artifacts. Guthix is literally the god of balance, so artifacts with tradeoffs or unusual mechanics would be perfect. Stuff that’s powerful but situational instead of just +4 strength bonus and call it a day. Idk, I’ve escaped my structured thoughts and am entering ramble mode, so I’ll stop typing here. What are your thoughts? EDIT: I looked at the main post by Goblin, and was inspired! THE JAS KNUCKLES (brass knuckles inspired melee weapon) a pair of gloves that are a moderate upgrade to barrows gloves without overpowering Ferocious gloves for melee. BUT, when you aren’t wearing any weapons, they become a two tick crush weapon, BOP BOP MF Additional thoughts suggested by comments: could be imbued with runes to provide elemental weakness damage based on which runes used?
