A man I almost considered dating recently told me “I love everything about you. I just worry that you are too independent. You can leave me any time”. He went on to describe how I seem to have all my finances under control and how he wouldn’t feel “in charge”. Let’s just say that I immediately was put off and erased that dating consideration completely. To me, it sounded like he wants to hold me or any woman he dates in a vulnerable position that makes it hard for them to leave him. But I’d like to ask the men here, what is that statement even supposed to mean? Maybe there’ an angle I’m not seeing here. submitted by /u/that_stoic_girl
