Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice or experiences with modern AI/tech that can recreate or preserve memories of people who have passed away. Both of my parents died when I was young (when I was 12 and 15). Because of that I don’t have many physical things from them anymore, but I do have a lot of photo albums with pictures of them. Lately I’ve been wondering what is actually possible with current technology. I’ve seen things like: AI restoring and colorizing old photos Animating photos so the person moves or smiles Generating videos from a single photo Creating “life story” videos or documentaries AI generating images of what someone might look like years later I’m especially curious about projects where people create a kind of AI life story / digital memory project using lots of photos. Some ideas I’ve been thinking about: restoring all the photos and making a short documentary about their lives animating some photos so they feel a bit more alive generating images of what my parents might look like today maybe even generating images of me (now as an adult) together with them I know AI obviously can’t actually recreate a real person, but I’m curious about meaningful ways people have used technology like this for remembrance. So I’m wondering: • Has anyone here done something like this with photos of loved ones who passed away?• What tools or AI platforms worked best?• Were the results good or did it feel uncanny/weird?• Are there any projects/services that specialize in this kind of thing?• If you had a large collection of old photos, what would you do with them today? I’d really appreciate hearing about people’s experiences or ideas. Thanks 🙏 submitted by /u/blxculture
