I am trying to incorporate LLMs (specifically Claude and Gemini) into my workflows to increase efficiency. In practical terms, this usually means stuff like taking a bullet point outline and turning it into an investment slide deck, or taking a project overview document and using it to create a spreadsheet with pro forma financials. It’s fairly straightforward stuff, but it can be tedious. I could teach an average college student to do most of this, so I figured it would be in the sweet spot for these LLMs. But instead, the output that I get is borderline useless. I’ve tried uploading examples of the output that I want, but it still fails to produce anything close to the final form that I need. The amount of reformatting, re-inputting, and generally fixing things required takes longer than if I just did the whole process myself manually. So what am I doing wrong? Are there purpose-specific products that I should be using? Do I need to spend extensive time training the models in order to get the output I want? Or are they just not built to do things like this? submitted by /u/LastNightOsiris
