Have been using AI assisted development since last one year. On top of all the instructions etc, what really worked for me is this one thing that makes a ton of diff is - if you ask it to ask you questions. It basically throws the agent on a diff track, where instead of making assumptions, agent creates questions to clarify and asks you. As a result, it gathers more context from you before suggesting a solution and takes a holistic approach. This could be as simple as just attaching something like this to your prompt: “ask me questions to validate your assumptions” OR “DO NOT make any assumptions, ask me to clarify any ambiguity”.
