I’ve never had younger siblings, but older brothers. As I approach 30 (29M), I want to make sure I’m setting an example and just being a good human. As I’ve begun to go back to school in community college, I’m navigating the social setting. A lot of the students are maybe 10 or so years younger than I am. A different generation. I know how it feels to not feel cared about. Or feel like someone does not know how to interact or communicate with me, especially an older person. I remember when I was 20, someone who was 29 seemed ancient. I understand the need for space, and as I become older and subsequently less cool, I want to make sure I’m always there for my friends and peers. Maybe I’m going about it the wrong way “trying to” xyz. To add, I think it’s easy to forget people are in different stages of life. And social cues and etiquette exists. But I also try to treat everyone the same way regardless of age, even people much older than I. I think that’s a natural progression about being a human. I definitely connect at times and understand laughter and having fun is key for any relationship. Anyway, came here for some guidance and or advice from fellow older dudes.
