10,000 charges for an unlimited whistle. It takes millions of hunter XP just to get one QOL to travel around the new continent. And many rumours like salamanders and herbiboar and chinchompas don’t even drop hunter meat! Imagine if Xeric’s talisman took 30 hours just to get unlimited charges for your poh? How about the content update before that, Sailing? 10,000 frost dragons minimum to get most, but not all, ship upgrades. Why did Jagex promise to increase the task weighting of frost dragons but never follow through? It’s still at a nonexistent 2% task rate. Trophy fish from trawling was advertised in a blog at a rate of 10 hours each. But instead Jagex somehow makes them 4x rarer at 40 hours each? For 7 trophy fish that is a 280 hour grind! 1 in 20,000 salvages for a single dragon cannon. 40,000 salvages to equip a single boat. If you start at 87 sailing and do nothing but salvage, you hit 99 sailing just to reach the drop rate to equip your boat with 2 cannons. Boat paints. 1 in 18000 chance to get an anglers paint. Wait, holdup, you need 2 in order to paint a sloop. So have fun chasing shoals for 36,000 fishing attempts that your crewmate can’t even roll for! Why is salvors paint 1 in 24,000 from only one type of lower level salvage? Why did Jagex tell us they would be “discussing the feedback about these rates internally” and then go radio silent? The intended drop rates for basic sailing facilities were insane Jagex released the “official” drop rates for sailing content a short time after release. The rates were wildly inflated at 9 or 10x their actual rates in game. They intended for: 1 in 200 swift albatross feather. That’s 1,000 kills, per boat with a wind facility. And you’ll want a wind facility for 2 or 3 boats at least! 1 in 100 ray barbs, thats 1600 manta ray kills for a single boats trawling nets. Manta rays have 160 HP ! If you kill lower HP eagle rays instead, that is 4800 kills just to equip a single boat for trawling. That’s only if you skip the lower level trawling nets! There’s no way there was another update right before this that held to this same pattern right? helmet of the moon - A few months before sailing they release a thousand hour clog for a single item. These rates don’t just affect cloggers. Marlin fishing requires a rosewood sloop in order to get half way decent rates. So its not just cosmetics or QOL, Jagex is starting to place singles pieces of content behind 100 hour grinds to unlock just one thing! In terms of game design, these rates make absolutely no sense even for Runescape. Why does so much of the content released in the last 6 months hold to this pattern? Does the latest update continuing this pattern mean… we won’t get any good-sized content drops for another 4 months? submitted by /u/WaveDashSpeedKick
