Hi everyone. I’m 21 and to keep it brief I’ve had experiences where I’m either really nice to a (male) stranger by helping them out so they see it as flirting & ask for my contact info despite me just being a friendly human being, or I’m walking down the street alone and a stranger (could be any age btw) feels the need to catcall or ask for my number despite not having a conversation first to even detect if there’s interest. As I’ve grown, I have been noticing the differences in how men & women were raised and that maybe this approach is a power/ego thing or that men were taught that persistence is seen as attractive, while women just feel invaded, unsafe, and frustrated that they can’t be kind without it being misread. I love going places alone & I hear advice from women on what to do, but from the male brain I guess, I’d like to how to respond to these situations in the future. Thank you! submitted by /u/Software-Substantial
