In Brazil, we were paying 33 BRL for membership. That’s roughly 6.6 USD (5BRL->1USD conversion). With the recent price hike, it went up to 46 BRL . That’s almost 50% higher . Equivalent to 9.2 USD . That’s still roughly 75% of what the majority of the playerbase pays, in the US. But average wage in Brazil is roughly 10% of the average north american’s wage. We make 1.5k BRL a month minimum wage. On the US your minimum wage is around 1.2k. But our currency is worth 1/5 of yours. Our average wage is equivalente to 600 USD (3000 BRL). Yours is 6000 USD For an average american, the sub is 0.33% of your monthly budget. For an average brazilian, the sub is now 2.5% of our monthly budget. Which means the price of our membership weighs 7.5x as much on our budgets than it does for US based players. Which brings us to the post title’s numbers. People are dismissing our complaints about the price increases as “oh poors can’t afford a 1$ increase”, but can you imagine if you were paying 66$ for a game and it suddenly jumped to 92$? Just tired of hearing people dismiss our complaints when they have no idea what they’re talking about. I’ve been playing this game for years, this year I brought 2 friends into a GIM group and we’ve been having a blast but we just can’t afford to play at these rates. And it doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor either. At some point you’ll feel taken advantage of if you have to pay this much for a game. submitted by /u/ClockworkSalmon
