I’ve spent a lot of time reading research, articles, and surveys about intimate partner violence and how men experience trying to get help. Lots of what I’ve read suggests men can face barriers or be treated differently when they reach out for support. I’m curious how accurate that is based on real experiences. If you tried to get help, what did you do and how did it go? Did you call the police? What happened? Did you contact shelters or hotlines? Were you directed to help or treated like the perpetrator? Did you go to friends, family, or other services instead? I’m especially interested in hearing from people in Canada, but I’d like to hear experiences from anywhere. submitted by /u/Plus-Meaning-7484
