I’ve been in a couple of situations that perfectly describe what I mean by invulnerability privilege. 1 - At a house party, after refusing to kiss a girl, she began to hit and kick at me. She drunkenly accused me of trying to make her look stupid. After a minute passed by, someone finally pulled her off. But I knew I couldn’t react to her assault, or a bunch of white knights would’ve kicked the shit out of me. I just had to try and mildly restrain her which isn’t easy to do in with wild slaps and kicks flying. 2 - I was in a bar with a group of friends, and one of the girls we were with started to argue with another group of men over a spilled drink. Despite us trying to calm the situation, she started to escalate things and caused a fight between the two groups of men. She did this absolutely 100% knowing she wouldn’t be on the receiving end of physical repercussions. My point of telling you this story is, how do you make women understand their invulnerability privilege in social situations? I’ve found any attempt to bring it up is met with bullshit misogyny accusations. submitted by /u/KestisBD9
