(41) 6’3", 178lbs. This is not medical advice and I’m not looking for medical advice. But I do want to have a conversation about TRT negative side effects that others and myself are experiencing. I started testosterone replacement therapy (testosterone cypionate, intramuscular injections) roughly a year and a half ago. My doctor was not hormone specialist. He started me on a higher dose at once every two weeks. At first I felt great. After about 2 months my testicles started to shrink dramatically. Apparently it’s a 50/50 chance that this can happen? I started to have skin breakouts on my shoulders chest and back. It started with small whiteheads as if I were a teenager again. Then it became deeper abscess style zits. I eventually went to a hormone specialty place. They told me I was being overdosed. The dose was too high and was too far apart. They lowered my dose to something like .7ml per week. My testicles still seem to be shrinking but I’m okay with that side effect. The acne has slowly subsided but still exists. My testosterone and blood test levels are excellent overall and I am healthy across the board. 💥Now with that said there are two other side effects I experienced that nobody explained to me. Even though my blood tests come back perfect. I feel like my blood pressure has risen. I get the sensation in my arms, chest and legs that I can only describe as high blood pressure. I can feel it in my head sometimes. Doctor says everything checks out. A really weird symptom that I started to have within the first 6 months was a heat triggered skin sensitivity. When I’m exposed to heat above 85° or when I start to exert myself and heat up internally I get this pins and needles feeling. It starts like an itch and then becomes painful like pins and needles. It doesn’t always happen, but it happens more often than not under these circumstances. Has anyone else experienced any of these. Symptoms? Have you gotten any explanations or remedies? With the testicles shrinking I am told and I am recommending you speak to your doctor before you get on testosterone about using preventative medication in order to mitigate or stop completely your testicle shrinking. The medication is expensive and is usually used for men who still want to have kids when they start testosterone. I don’t recall the name of it. But if you don’t want your testicles to shrink, start on that medication as well as your testosterone. submitted by /u/sidewinderofficial
