After seeing all the layoff posts here and general negativity about the job market situation, it would be great to hear some stores from the people who were early/mid career during the 08 financial crisis. The situation doesn’t seem to be as bad as 08… yet. So how did things work out for you guys? What would be your advice to people getting laid off now? My two cents: I personally think people are overreacting. Losing a job is hard but honestly I would rather be unemployed here than anywhere else. Unemployment insurance gives you enough runway to reskill and find something else to do. It is tough but better reskill now than find a similar job that will become irrelevant? Would love to hear the thoughts of the 08 veterans submitted by /u/anonutter
