TL;DR: If you are due for renewal before April 9th for a 12-month membership, you should normally pay the old price. However, if you want to also change your payment method, then you are forced to pay the new price, contrary to what is mentioned in the blog post. To add insult to injury to the “Membership & Bonds Price Change” blog post, Jagex does not even honor their own terms. I have an ongoing 12-month subscription, with a renewal date between March 10th and April 9th. On Jagex’s own blog, I should be in a sort of “grace period” and keep the old rate for renewal, except that I also need to update my credit card number, as the old one is invalid since then. For some reason, Jagex is the only company I know of where you cannot simply update your payment information. In Jagex’s world, you have to set up a new subscription on the same account to update that information. It is convenient for them, I guess, because you are forced to pay the new, inflated price. The price on the website interface is not adjusted if your renewal date is in the grace period. I guess Jagex can now unilaterally decide what is a renewal and what is a new subscription. If, like any other business in the world, they had simply provided a payment information update interface, it would be a renewal at the old price. But since they have such a strange system (and probably because it makes them more money that way), you are forced to pay the new price, which is outrageous. I also understand why everyone is frustrated with Jagex support. You are forced to talk to the AI chatbot, which is completely useless, before finally having access to the support form. I hope the wiki team will create a strategy page for this. When you finally access the human support team, the response is not great. I know the customer mods are trying their best but to my point of view they just repeated the information I had already seen on the website, without trying to understand the underlying problem. submitted by /u/UCPD_7157
