I should start by saying I’m extremely inexperienced in these things. So what could be a very obvious sign to some is genuinely invisible to me. I work part-time as a cashier at a pizzeria on weekends. I understand that people very rarely flirt with cashiers and are usually just being polite if it sounds like they are. I’ve always operated on the assumption that women don’t make moves on men, not because I believe it’s true but cause it saves me the embarrassment of potentially misinterpreting their politeness as something more. A few days ago, an Italian woman and her friends walked in and ordered some food. She was accompanied by two guys (honestly couldn’t tell if either was her partner or just really close friend) and a girl. The other three didn’t seem too tipsy but she was clearly drunk. Not enough to affect the coherence of her speech or behavior but just enough that I could tell by her eyes. Anyways, after they ordered they went to sit down while they waited for the food and I got on with my business. After a good 10-15 minutes she randomly came up to the till by herself and I assumed she wanted to put in another order, but she didn’t. She pointed to a sticker on the glass pane on the counter that was in Italian and asked me if I knew what it meant. I said no, and she proceeds to tell me it means kiss in her language. My socially awkward ass just responded with “Oh, cool. I didn’t know that” and smiled nervously. She smiled and said she just wanted to come up and let me know what the word means, and then continued to have a conversation with me for another 3-5ish minutes and then said goodbye and went back to her seat. I’m still not sure what the signals were but I’m glad I didn’t do anything to potentially ruin the vibe. I told my friend about this afterwards and he was certain she flirting and even said she might’ve been asking for a kiss. As I mentioned before, I am very out of touch with these kinds of things and I still have no idea what it was. It’s not like I can do anything about it now but it would be good to know what I can learn from this for future reference. submitted by /u/Positive_Treacle7475
