I’m 23, graduated last year, and I have about $15k invested in the stock market. I bring home about $4,500/month, pay $1,200 in rent and about $650 for my car, plus normal living expenses. I’m not trying to turn this into a strict math problem for everyone, but after bills I’m left with around $1,500 and want to invest and actually set myself up for the future. I’m trying to figure out what’s a reasonable monthly budget to spend on my girlfriend outside of holidays (dates, food, small gifts, etc.). What do you all think is a healthy amount or way to think about this? I know it’s probably different for everyone but I know I’m young and stupid so any ballpark estimates here would be great. We’ve been together about a year, and she’s studying for the LSAT to get into Law school and working as a server so I currently make much more than her at the moment.
