Every time this is mentioned anywhere it gains traction. It seems that everyone is in agreement that there’s an issue, but for some reason the mod team is insisting on keeping it exactly how it is. There’s just no comment from any mod regarding it. If you want a single maxed sloop, currently you’d need to kill over 20.000 Frost Dragons. Also want a fishing boat and a skiff for Barracuda Trials? You’re looking at over 50.000 Frost Dragons for the secondary materials alone. You’d still need the other items from ship combat and salvaging. I just don’t see how this is good game balancing. Why would anyone ever maximize anything in their boat? The upgrades offer very small benefits at extreme costs. Not just that, but why do you have to grind a non-Sailing monster, which isn’t even a boss, for all these materials? I just don’t get why it is like this and why Jagex doesn’t want to change it. Port tasks have no rewards. Why can’t you get the materials from there? Hell (hot take) why can’t you just smith them at the dragon forge? Give the ability to make sheets + the ability to make cannonballs. Make it so rarer non-buyable dragon stuff gives more. Maybe we can finally see items like the Dragon Axe, pickaxe, chain, d2h etc go back up in price. submitted by /u/Dry_Yogurtcloset_213
