Hello, This is my first experience in moving out of the rental apartment. So, my situation right now is that i am searching for someone to have the lease takeover at the soonest, for March. I have 1 person who organized visit with me and this person then submit the application, to take it as of April. The gerance informed me of this, and asked me if i agree with this or if i still want to find someone for sooner date. I then re-confirm with the person if indeed they can not take it as of March? Even offer them to split the rent if they agree, but they said no, they can only start in April. I then asked to the agency for more time to find a new applicant who can take the apartment sooner, and they gave me 2 weeks more. I then found the new person (let’s say person #2) in 1 week, ready to move in anytime, but due to financial reason, they can only take it as early as mid-March. For me it’s fine, at least then i will only need to pay half month rent instead of full month. This person then submitted the application and i thought it will be fine. Turns out the gerance informed the 1st person that there is another interested person who will take the apartment sooner. The first person then change their date to align with the 2nd person (as of mid-March) and the gerance give them priority since they are the first applicant. They asked me if i still need the 1 week remaining that i have or i just agree with them processing the contract for the 1st person. I felt this is not fair, i spent time doing the viewing and advertisement to find a new tenant. And when i do, they still prioritize the decision to the first person, in this case if they want to move their date to be earlier or not. Like why? I have someone who is ready to move in earlier than the first person. But the gerance said basically the first applicant has the priority and right to do so. I am just curious regarding the priority given to the first person who submit the rent application, to the extent they are kept informed regarding another candidature and have priority to ‘align’ their position. Is it true? And if so, to what extent? To me it will be a vicious cycle. If I try again and find someone sooner, the gerance will then inform the first person, then most probably the first person will re-align the date again. There should have been some level of agreed commitment in advance; not changing date / re-align every time, based on the other candidate date’s that i submit. Is this situation is common? Am i being too sensitive? 🤣 submitted by /u/solarium333
