I’ve noticed a lot of frustration/disdain about Leagues VI, due to it being the third limited time gamemode in ~7 months, which is somewhat fair. A lot of the appeal of the high speed, high power builds is lost when you get to revisit it multiple times in a short period of time, and I don’t blame people for not being as excited as they normally would be. However, I see lots of people blaming Gridmaster/DMM/Leagues for the limited roadmap this year, which to me seems silly. For Gridmaster: the Bingo Board was something being advertised due to its arrival in the main-game. Most of the power-ups and tasks were repeats from Leagues, and very little new content was added outside of the Bingo Board itself. It was also very clear that not much thought went into what went where in the tasks/powers, because the majority of players followed the same route into Golden God in the first hour or so and trivialized the rest of the board. For DMM: Basically reskinned Leagues into a DMM, which led to some jank. For example: in the Sigil Shop (which appeared to be based on the Forestry shop) you could even buy sigils multiple times. They literally did not take the time to prevent you from being able to do so, instead letting you sell them back in a weird manner by using the excess sigils on the shop. The sigils themselves were also repeats of past DMMs, with some balance tweaks, so not much changed there. For Leagues: It’s a little early to say obviously, but it looks like another run of Trailblazer Leagues. It’s not like they’re reinventing the wheel here, if it’s anything like Leagues IV and V then it’s going to feel like the fourth run of the same League. They’ve mentioned Misthalin won’t be accessible which is just… changing things up by removing content instead of adding it. We also still won’t have access to Sailing despite being it released 6 months ago, and it being the biggest update since Leagues V. As someone who plays pretty much every gamemode that comes by, Leagues III and to a lesser extent Leagues IV were the last times it seemed a lot of dev time was used. I do not know where the dev time is being spent right now because I agree not a lot is coming out this year, but I don’t think it’s fair to blame Leagues. If anything, Sailing probably earns the most blame by taking 3 years of development time, but the community reception is overall positive to it so they may have been well spent. submitted by /u/Zanian
