I’m in a bit of a tough spot and could use some real-world advice. A close friend of mine has been struggling lately, and it’s getting to the point where it’s affecting their job and relationships. They aren’t at “rock bottom” yet, but the trajectory is worrying. I’ve been doing some research on local support options and found rolling hills which seems to have a really solid reputation for a more personalized approach. For those of you who have been in my shoes: How do you bring up the conversation without them getting defensive or shutting down? Is it better to wait until they ask for help, or is “early intervention” actually a thing that works? If you’ve helped someone through this, what’s the one thing you wish you knew at the start? I really want to be a good friend here, but I’m terrified of overstepping and pushing them further away. Any advice or personal stories would be hugely appreciated. submitted by /u/Cjd03032001
