Not going to lie, whilst I am capable of paying for the new rates - though am rightly irritated that I got my grandfathered rate rug-pulled and would obviously prefer to pay less than more - with some irl cutbacks or if I just play on and off when a major update drops, isn’t it due time they addressed all of this? At least a week has gone by and its radio silence on that front. Do they just expect the community to forget it? I know that Jagex needs to rake in as much cash as possible seeing for themselves and their investors since TH and most MTX is gone, hence the price increase (which - again - with some irl cutbacks, is possible to afford), but making money is what most businesses are, well, in the business for. It however just seems all kinds of scummy to punish the most loyal members of your playerbase by basically yoinking one of the benefits they gave for supporting them for so long. I imagine as well - even to a small extent the price increase - that most recent updates might’ve not gotten so much flak for the most part; they did inherently state that the game would change pretty drastically overall, but I don’t think they outright stated (aside from one question in the poll at the beginning of the year/late last year, which I imagine a large portion of players wouldn’t have bothered with) that the membership pricing would change outside of Premier being discontinued a bit later on. So… With the outcry from Reddit (afaik, some people on the official discord mentioned it, not much came of it aside from ideas to make it more “worthwhile” to pay the new rate) and all, are we just complaining because we can? Or have we stopped because in actuality we don’t really care about the price and just wanted to kick up a stink? What’s worse is that over here on OSRS, there isn’t really any change; there was no MTX (discluding bonds) or anything that would’ve needed amendments aside from Customer Support maybe, it’s all for the benefit of Runescape 3’s Road to Restoration. But I think everyone can agree that the Grandfathered Rate “rugpull” has affected both communities more or less equally. I’m not looking to pick fights mind you, just to converse, plus I just feel its worth the time to remind a portion of the community that a good portion of the playerbase got screwed because of awful business conduct. I’m pretty sure in some countries what Jagex did would be considered illegal, unless there’s something in the fine print, which tbh, there probably is. submitted by /u/Kabuki-san
