This sub is justifiably upset about yet another price increase. That anger has boiled over to some things that seem justifiable, such as dissatisfaction with only getting 1 character per sub, increased scrutiny for recent updates, and concern about the roadmap. But it’s now starting to boil over to something that is completely unjustified - temporary game modes. Jagex has said several times how little dev time these modes take and the return on investment is incredible. With DMM as the exception, we are ironman accounts for the rest of them and farming the rewards is much worse gp/hour than main game methods, so we can be pretty sure that the insane player count jump for these modes is almost entirely organic, non-bots. That’s a huge injection of membership fees to fund main game updates. Not to mention the number of players that seem to be introduced to the game via Leagues and stick around for the main game afterwards. The temporary game modes, especially Leagues, are some of the most loved things this game has to offer, despite a vocal minority on reddit. Getting rid of or drastically reducing these would do so much more harm than good. Bringing this into the price increase discussion as a sticking point will only divide the community and distract from the actual issues. submitted by /u/Cool_of_a_Took
