America is very different from most other countries. The cost of simply living a basic life here is already insanely high. You have to pay for health insurance, car insurance, rent or property tax and sales tax in most states. Just to function normally, you need transportation to work and health coverage so you do not get crushed by medical bills and a roof over your head. Even that roof is insanely expensive because housing prices and rent are completely out of control. That is why if millions of Americans lose their jobs to AI, things will get ugly fast. With living costs this high, people can become desperate quickly. Most Americans do not have enough savings to survive even a few months without income. And history already shows what happens when huge numbers of people get desperate.
