TL;DR: Very long read ahead. Sections break down each part of the suggested quest. Boss mechanics and rewards are at the bottom. Due to the extensiveness of the post, this is more of a quest pitch than a straight suggestion. All suggestions and feedback are welcome. Summary After 20 years, the Fairy Resistance finally begins planning to reclaim the throne from the Fairy Godfather. Fairytale III – Reign and Malice is the Master quest finale to the Fairytale series: Infiltrate, sabotage, and defeat the Fairy Godfather in a climactic boss fight. Includes skilling, puzzles, and delivers a satisfying conclusion to the Zanaris power struggle while uncovering long-lost magical secrets. Quest Requirements All subsequent quests + Watchtower, One Small Favour, Forgettable Tale, and Dream Mentor. Skill Requirements: 57 thieving. 64 farming. 68 herblore. 60 crafting. Recommended: 85 combat. Length: Very Long Difficulty: Master Quest Start Speak with Fairy Very Wise, she will tell you that they need help coming up with a plan to restore the Queen to her throne. You’re tasked with speaking with the other Fairy NPCs in Zanaris to gather intel. Speak with several NPCs in Zanaris and one of them will tell you to speak to Co-Ordinator. She will tell you that the Fairy Godfather is to attend his daughter’s wedding. Bring the intel back to Fairy Very Wise. The Fairy Queen, Fairy Nuff, Fairy Very Wise, and player will then devise a plan. In order to take back Zanaris and the throne, they will need to subdue the Fairy Godfather and his followers. This will be done during his daughters wedding reception. The player will need to: Find out the location of the wedding and collect the required materials to subdue the Fairy Godfather. Wedding Location The player will need to travel back to Zanaris and go to the throne room. Speak to the Fairy Godfather to congratulate him on his daughter’s wedding. While speaking, one of the henchmen interrupts and informs the Fairy Godfather they are running low on Fairy Ring Scrolls. He then tells the henchman to speak to Co-Ordinator about making more scrolls. His other henchman follows soon after, and tells the Fairy Godfather that there’s been a delay on the special alcohol they wished to use for the wedding reception. The player chimes in, saying that they know a thing or two about making alcohol. The Fairy Godfather then requests the player to make the alcohol and deliver it to the Fairy Cook for the wedding reception. He will give you a list of ingredients that’s been passed down in the family for several generations. The Scrolls Go to Co-Ordinator and find out more about the scrolls. The Orks are helping set up the wedding venue but they can’t use Fairy Ring directly as they have no magical ability. Co-Ordinator doesn’t have any scrolls to give to the player. Find an Ork and pickpocket to get a Fairy Ring Scroll. Return to the hideout with the scroll and intel. Fairy Very Wise will imbue the scroll. Using the scroll on the Zanaris Fairy Ring will give the Coordinates to the wedding venue. Before leaving to use the scroll, the Queen and Fairy Nuff will suggest the player speak to the Apothecary in Varrock. At this point, Fairy Very Wise will give the player a Mushroom of Returning. This will be a one-click teleport to the Fairy Hideout that will only be active during the quest, allowing the player to visit the hideout without going through the full 4-step Fairy Ring code. Brewing ingredients: Sicilian hops x8, Purified Zanaris water x2, Ale yeast x1, Barley malt x2. Sicilian hops: Speak with either of the henchmen and ask them where the Sicilian hops can be found. They tell the player that their Cousin Luppolo tends to the family hops fields. He can be found in Keldagrim. Purified Zanaris Water: Use Gorak claw powder on a bowl of water and then cook it. Will need 2 of them. The bowl of water must be a bowl used on a water source within Zanaris. Apothecary The Apothecary will give instructions on how to make a Concentrated Fairy Drowsy Potion. The player will need to make a Guthix Rest and collect both a Cave Nightshade and a Star flower. Use a pestle and mortar on the Star Flower with a Guthix Rest and empty vial in your inventory to make a Fairy Drowsy Potion (unf). Then use the Cave Nightshade on the unfinished potion to make a 2-dose Concentrated Fairy Drowsy Potion. When asked how he knows how to make a Fairy Drowsy potion, he claims that fairies can have ailments too. Cousin Luppolo He comes from a long generation of hop growers and can be found in Keldagrim. Find him and speak to him. The player will tell him he’s been tasked by the Fairy Godfather to brew the special ale that will be drank at his Daughter’s wedding. Before Cousin Luppolo gives you anything, he will ask for a small favor; to take care of a pest that’s been damaging his hop fields. The pest in question will be around the same difficulty as a level 125 Arzinian Avator from Between a Rock. After defeating it, return to Cousin Luppolo “with proof” that the pest was taken care of, and he will then give you the hop seeds. If asked how Cousin Luppolo is related to fairies, he claims that it’s not a blood relation, but that by marriage. The Brew Sicilian hop seeds will have the same mechanics as Kelda Hop seeds from Forgettable Tale of a Drunken Dwarf. A special hops patch and brewing station will need to be added to Zanaris. Use all ingredients listed earlier to make the brew. Once brewed, the player will need to get two kegs and use it on the brewing station. Side Note: I considered proposing an option where players could choose to kill 1 pest for seeds, or 10 pests for hops directly. But given that the Fairy Tale series started with farming, it only seemed appropriate for the finale to also include farming instead of a PvM bypass. In lieu of a bypass, I would suggest doing this section first before speaking to the apothecary and gathering the necessary materials needed for the Concentrated Fairy Drowsy Potion. With both the kegs and concentrated Fairy Drowsy Potion in the player’s inventory, use the potion on each of the two kegs and then give the spiked kegs to the Fairy Cook. The Twist After the spiked keg is given to the Fairy Cook, return to Fairy Nuff, Fairy Very Wise, and the Fairy Queen with the Mushroom of Returning. The Fairy Queen will claim that the Fairy Godfather is still too powerful as she’s still recovering. She says that she used to have a Fairy Artifact, but feared that its power may be abused against the Fairies. Out of caution, she ejected it into space, as the wielder could use the Artifact to weaken others or enhance their own magical ability. She can sense the presence of the artifact on Gielinor, but only knows the rough location, which is on Lunar Isle. She tells the player to hurry to Lunar Isle, as there isn’t much time left before the wedding and their opportunity to strike may be too late. The Fairy Artifact Speak with Oneiromancer on Lunar Isle, where the player explains to her that they are looking for a Fairy Artifact. Oneiromancer is unaware of the artifact, but states that she noticed a strange energy coming from Cyrisus during the Dream Mentor quest. She still senses that strange energy even though Cyrisus is no longer on the island/on this plane of existence (pre/post While Guthix Sleeps). She suggests the player go inspect the cave where Cyrisus was originally found. The player will go to the Lunar Isle mine. Inspecting the wall where Cyrisus was found, the player finds an old marking engraved in stone. Bring parchment and charcoal to make a sketch and bring it back to Oneiromancer. She suggests the player speak to Baba Yaga. Go to Baba Yaga in her hut and show her your drawing. She recognizes the marking and shares what little information she does know with the player. She then grabs a journal she has that came from an old ancestor of hers. Inside is a riddle and a signet. She gives the player a riddle, and upon giving her the correct answer, she then gives the player a signet. She then tells us that the journal has instructions to add the signet to a Lunar Ring to create a Lunar Signet and use that on the strange marking. Lunar Signet: Bring the Lunar Ring, Signet (from Baba Yaga), and 1 molten glass to the lunar altar to create the Lunar Signet. Bring the Lunar Signet to the strange marking that the ring fits into. A chasm with a stair case will open up. Go down the stairs to find a series of puzzles. The puzzles will be fitting of the early inhabitants of Lunar Isle, which once they are all completed, the player then finds a room with the Fairy Artifact on top of a pedestal. Upon retrieving the Fairy Artifact , another staircase going up is revealed which brings you back to the surface, directly behind the Astral Altar. Because of the energy emitting from the Astral Altar, Oneiromancer was not able to sense the Artifact despite it being directly beneath the altar. Fairy Artifact Lore: It crashed landed on Lunar Isle (post-Stone of Jas) with its powerful magic radiating to the people of Lunar Isle, allowing them to rapidly develop their magical abilities to the point of no longer needing runes. Earlier settlers worshipped the Fairy Artifact and kept it secure. As generations went on, it gradually became lost knowledge. Wrapping Up & Final Battle With the Fairy Artifact in hand, bring it with you back to the Fairy Queen and the rest of the resistance via the Mushroom of Returning. They will say that they’re ready and will be waiting for the players signal (the toast). Gear up and return to Zanaris, go through the fairy ring to the wedding venue. A cut scene plays for the ceremony (walking down the aisle, and the “I-do’s”). After it finishes, go to the cook near the kegs for the special drink. The cook will give the player a tray with the drinks. The player then goes from table to table to drop off drinks, and tells everyone at each table to wait for the toast before drinking. Once all the drinks are passed out, speak to the Fairy Cook again and get a glass of water. With the glass of water, speak to the Fairy Godfather. A cut scene plays where the player gives a toast. Everyone raises their glass and then drinks (except the Fairy Godfather). Shortly after, the entire venue goes to sleep and the Fairy Resistance shows up. The Fairy Godfather, furious that his daughter’s wedding was ruined…on the day of his daughter’s wedding, consumes a special potion he got from the Orks. This increases his character model size and stats. He summons a handful of Orks which engage with the Fairy Resistance while he then enters combat with the player. The Fairy Godfather Boss Fairy Godfather will use magic based melee that attacks every 5 ticks. Protect from melee can negate all damage from his standard attacks. Every 4 attacks, he performs one of three specials. He transforms the player (like the Zanaris Random Events) before launching a magic based ranged attack at the player. The transformation also disables prayer. The player will need to click the Fairy Artifact to transform back to human and then pray against missiles before the projectile hits the player. Player will have 6 ticks to complete this to avoid damage (failure to transform back to human will result in an additional 20 damage taken over time). A simple telegraphed AOE attack based on the center tile of the Fairy Godfather. Player will have 5 ticks to step 1 tile away to avoid damage. The Fairy Godfather teleports the player 4-7 tiles away and binds them, while bound, he launches a strong magic attack. Protect from Magic must be active when the projectile hits the player to negate damage. Once hit, the bind is released. Fairy Godfather will then path towards the player. If the player is outside of melee range by the next standard attack from the Fairy Godfather, he will cast a teleportation spell on the player again, bringing the player within melee range and immediately perform one of the other two special attacks. At 35% health, the Fairy Godfather speeds up all attacks by 1 tick (includes special attacks), and increases frequency of special attacks from every 4 attacks to every 3 attacks. Note: Dropping or destroying the Fairy Artefact during the boss fight will make protection prayers 90% less effective, and increases his max hit to 60. With the Fairy Artifact, protection prayers are 100% effective and damage off prayer has a max hit of 27 (standard attack) and 41 (special attack). If lost or “destroyed”, its magical properties teleports it back to the pedestal under the Astral Altar for the player to reclaim. Once the Fairy Godfather is defeated, the Fairy Queen uses her secateurs on the Fairy Godfather to strip him of his powers. He is then held captive at the Fairy Hideout with his two henchmen. With the Fairy Godfather locked away, the Orks and other underlings leave Zanaris. Speak to the Fairy Queen in the throne room to complete the quest. Rewards 3 Quest Points 12,500 Herblore, 7,500 Farming, 5,500 Thieving, and 5,500 Crafting XP. Quantity 2 - 10,000 XP lamps for skill of choice above level 50. The ability to disable the Zanaris-only special events by speaking to the Fairy Queen. Raw chicken is no longer required to access the Evil Chicken’s Lair (after completion of RFD - Sir Amik Varze). Fairy Queen can teleport you directly to the Fairy Hideout post-quest (to speak with Fairy Godfather for the Hard Cipher Clue). After giving the Fairy Artifact to the Fairy Queen, she’ll use the Artifact to enhance your Magic Secateurs to increase the yield bonus from 10% to 12.5%. Lore accurate because it took 20+ years for the Fairy Godfather to have a daughter and for her to become old enough to marry.
