Is it wrong for me to choose a group who calls me n-word over another group who calls me caveman simply because one acknowledges my worth while the other refuses or even downplays it. I just wonder what other people think when they outright call me n-word. Why dont they stand up for me? Why are they just standing and pretending that they didnt hear. Some do hear, but they would usually join them. It lasted quite a while until a group of Somalis (I am a Somali myself) told me to hang around with them. I didnt hesitate and started hanging around with them. Even though we were all Somalis, it didnt last quite long until they also began making fun of me. It started when I told them a guy, who they knew, called me “caveman”. Then somebody suggested that they should start calling me that. Same like last time, I didnt stop them and things got worse afterwards. They then made fun of my worth and made me feel like shit about who I am as a person. By the way, the reason why I have such a low self esteem is because of them. Whenever somebody brings up my future and how it looks, they would suddenly laugh as if it looked bleak. Many other would join our group even those with weird personalities. The only thing that held the group together was me, the scapegoat. The new ones, the old ones and the ones who are barely with us are insulting me left and right. The only thing they acknowledged was my academic prowess (which the previous group didn’t acknowledge). About few months, I started hanging with the group that called me n-word, but they aren’t accepting me into the group. The other group? I cut them off and they no longer hang around with me. I did tell them to stop using the word caveman, but they keep on saying it as an “accident” (according to them). I then began looking for friends online. Nothing worked and many of them left me in the dust. So my question is: What am I doing wrong if people both online and real life are comfortable with disrespecting me? submitted by /u/MrKaffir
