Firstly, I want to note that I am not rage baiting nor being contrarian. I do not claim to be knowledgeable or experienced in the field of AI. I am seeking clarity from people who believe this, on what I genuinely see as a contradiction. Here goes: I often hear two things from AI bros: 1: AI will do your job for you. All you have to do is punch in commands and it will spit back out a product. This is the future of many industries. 2: Start using AI now, or you will get left behind. Is this not a contradiction? It is certainly true as it stands that knowing how to create a prompt that leads to a successful end product requires some level of experience and understanding of the AI model. However, the trend—and the argument—is that AI is becoming more accessible, capable, and reliable. If AI models continue to improve in this way, then I genuinely cannot understand why anyone would be “left behind” for not hopping on the AI train now, when later it will presumably require less “AI skillsets” to successfully utilize AI. Is this argument then more of a threat for people to invest now, as the private owners of these models can withhold it and therefore “leave you behind?” Or is it a ploy to garner current subscriptions and engagement to train the models now? submitted by /u/Parking_Vermicelli43
