Hello all! Ill try to keep this story as short as possible. I was dating this man for a few years (i will update after with details, but will not mention now as I dont want them to influence your comments). So we were dating for a few weeks; we were friends before, so we knew each other pretty well. He would go without responding to my calls for hours or even days, and he would skip dates sometimes without letting me know. We were in the talking stages, and I did not take it so seriously, but I asked him about it months later when we were committed to each other, and he stopped doing those things. The reason he did not answer my calls or forget about our dates was that he was suffering from PTSD, and sometimes he just “disassociated”. It seems that he witnessed some people die in an accident at work a few years back, and he was so traumatized by the experience. I had never experienced PTSD myself at the time; I did have panic attacks, but not PTSD. I now know he was lying, and it`s not like i believed his stories back then. I grew up with a father who embellished all his stories and i just took it as being something similar. My question is why lie? why would someone lie about PTSD, and if PTSD can manifest like that? submitted by /u/lizzardqueen22
