I’m a Software Architect and the company just laid off the last remaining Swiss Developer, meaning my team consists of me, a PM, a Sales Guy, and my Boss. The rest is Offshore in a very different timezone. Now I’m glad I still have a Job and all, but it obviously does not look good. My Boss said, we should be ok for a year in this constellation, but we will see. The situation of the past year made me think about what I really wanted to do, and it was always about Electrical Engineering for me. A HF in IT was the most accessible option for me, while being able to afford living. But now, I could study EE at HSLU, and I’d be admitted. I’m freshening up my math, too, so I will be as ready as possible in that regard. I’m also a member at Repair Caffé and repair electrical devices, such as coffee machines, vacuumers, phones, and more. Problem is, my wife is also doing an education, and therefor I can’t really start until fall 2027 for finacial reasons. Now since the company I work for would prefer it if I could work only 80%, I was thinking I could maybe work 20% at an Electrical Engineering company. Embedded Programming for instance, to get my foot in the door, and giving the potential employer a low-risk option that doesn’t cost much. Is that someone heard of before? Or is someone a member of a company that would be willing to do something like that? Such things are never offered on job boards, of course. submitted by /u/Linkario86
