Why does it take so long to receive some medical invoices? International student here. I visited my house doctor back in January 2025 and upto now I am yet to get charged. This was way below my deductible, so no, my insurance didn’t get charged directly or anything like that. I emailed the clinic in December reminding them to send me the invoice but I didn’t hear back. I don’t mind the money sitting in my bank account and gaining interest but I just hate having money around that is not mine. Opposite case happened again with a Kantonal hospital I visited a month ago. I paid a deposit because I have a student insurance and not the national one. Now they are yet to send me the invoice + balance and my deposit is still in their bank gaining interest for them. Is it normal for invoices to take such long? I am curious how they get their monthly operating money for paing employees etc if they don’t follow up on invoices? I suspect majority of patients’ bills are paid directly by the national insurance and they don’t bother following up on me who pays mine directly from pocket first?? submitted by /u/CandidVegetable1704
