I’m increasingly seeing stories, usually out of the US, where female teachers in their twenties have sexual relationships with literal teenage boys. If it was a male that was engaging in this behavior, the answer would likely just be “paedophilia/hebephilia” (i.e. it would be almost solely a sexual/physical thing). There will be some who will just say, “yeah, they’re female paedophiles”, but I’m not sure how convincing I find that argument to be. I don’t think that it’s terribly likely that conventionally attractive female teachers in their twenties, who’re often married, would have be closeted paedophiles who sexually desire boys in their teens. My theory is that there’s likely some sort of weird psychology going on, where they’re trying to replicate the euphoria of the “teenage love” period they had in their younger years, or perhaps they missed out on it and are trying to replicate it now. Or they may be mentally trying to ‘re-run’ high-school and finally be the popular girl getting with the popular guy. I’m by no means trying to justify or make excuses for these women. I’m just genuinely trying to understand what motivates this behaviour, because it seems very out-of-whack with everything else I thought I knew about women. If I heard that a woman cheated on her husband with a good-looking guy in his twenties, or a rich guy, or a famous guy, it would, of course, be morally reprehensible, but I could partly understand her actions. It’s difficult to understand what the appeal is of a teenage boy. Thoughts? submitted by /u/LeftVentricular
