I met a guy recently and we instantly hit it off. I’d known of him and vice versa for years but we had never actually met, and when we did it was just insane chemistry and sexual tension. You usually have to hit me over the head with it for me to be sure you’re actually into me, but this guy and I hung out two nights in a row and it was all teasing, leaning in, finding reasons to be near me, opening up about personal things, lots of laughing and giggling between us. A few playful pokes and “you definitely could have avoided brushing up against me just now but you didn’t.” A few of the people around us noticed our chemistry, too. There are two catches, though: 1) I was only visiting, from where I live out of state (like a 2-hour plane ride distance out of state). And 2) we work on the same project - we are not employed by the same company, but our companies collaborate a lot. And since the trip, we’ve been communicating a lot more frequently - mostly about work, but still with a lot of playful banter, and not always about work. So, two pretty big roadblocks… but hard to put totally out of sight out mind. So I’m wondering if any of you have had a sort of “it’ll never happen but not for lack of attraction” situation and what you did about it… did you keep flirting with her even though you knew it would never happen? Did you ever try to pursue it anyway (or did she)? Or did you eventually just get over it like “nope, that door is closed”?
