It feels like you are becoming a stronger engineer simply because you are producing more. But the confidence that actually lasts feels different. It shows up when a system breaks and you do not panic. When you can open thousands of lines of unfamiliar code and slowly piece together what is happening. When you can explain a bug clearly before you even fix it. Tools like claude code and cosine can help you move faster, but they cannot give you that depth. That comes from spending time understanding how systems behave under pressure, how decisions ripple over time, and why things were built the way they were. Speed is visible.
