Hello, Im a woman who’s younger brother just pledged to a fraternity. Hes not joining a house, but he told me and my father about the hazing. Thankfully he only had to eat some nasty food, but he said that the freshmen who wanted to join the house were being waterboarded. I immediately said to report it, but both my father and brother strongly opposed it. I asked why, and my dad said because then the fraternity would be shut down. That does make sense to me. I then asked “then you should report it shortly before or after you graduate” and still, both of them shot me down. Why? Theres nothing to lose from doing so aftee graduation especially. My brother isn’t the type to not report things because of a threat to his masculinity. In fact he is a highly emotional and sensitive person. I really dont get it. Can someone offer and explanation from a male point of view? submitted by /u/Usoppfangirl
