I am not sure if this is the main issue, but the reason you are hitting rate limits quicker may be the plug-ins you installed that say you save tokens. I installed claude mem that promised token usage reduction by 30% but it actually increased it, my sessions ended within 10mins on sonnet, i uninstalled it and now my sessions last upto 2hours. if you face the same issue maybe try uninstalling all plug-ins.
