I felt inspired to make this post after reading the comments on this post . What really struck me was the amount of people who seem to genuinely have tricked themselves into thinking that “If I learn AI, then I will be safe!”. I saw so many “X model is doing Y% of my work now. I barely do anything!”-comments. First, these always read as straight up advertisement to me. I think that might be because actual advertisements tend to follow the same “flow” --> “I use product X and since then my life has never been the same!”. Second, do you really believe that, if I just “learn AI” good enough, then I will get to keep my job? NEWSFLASH: The entire point of the AI we’re seeing currently developed is to ensure you have zero ability to work for a living. You will either be a slave to the government or the AI companies for your UBI, or you will just be left starving. That is the end of your story and mine. There is no world where you get to keep your job because you learn AI, because the entire point of AI is to replace you. Is this truly so hard for people to understand? A technology that has the explicit goal of making you destitute will (SHOCK) make you destitute. I really dont understand some of you people. If you understand that AI is advanced and will likely replace you, then that’s a separate thing. I got no issues with that. But if you have deluded yourself into thinking that if you just learn AI enough you will be safe, then you are a total rube which the AI companies have tricked into willing complacency of your own demise. I’m getting really tired of all these naïve people. You know who you are, and its high time you wake up to reality. submitted by /u/Nissepelle
