I (21F) was wondering how men would feel if they were proposed to, instead of doing the proposing. I know every individual is different, some may feel emasculated by it and others might be flattered instead. But I had a fun thought that I’d like some input on - instead of proposing with a ring, maybe proposing with something that the guy is interested in (eg a personalised knife, or a hard-to-get character figure, or 1:X scale of a car/motorbike they love etc). I know it wouldn’t be as confirming as a ring, but I feel like it also shows that you listen to his interests and that item would carry more than just the typical “she thought of me”. This thought may have stemmed from the fact that neither my boyfriend (24M) or I aren’t materialistic, and we prefer getting each other smaller things that we know are going to be cherished or appreciated, instead of buying something flashy for each other every so often. And no, I’m not planning on proposing yet as we’ve only been together 9 months, but it was one of those random thoughts that popped into my head. Sorry for the ramble, just looking for someone else’s 2 cents. submitted by /u/AJ_on_drums
