I have heard about claude.local.md , but it’s unclear if it is used in place of the claude.md file. Will telling Claude to ignore claude.md inside of my claude.local.md file cause it to actually not read claude.md or am I still going to waste valuable use up context/memory/instructions by putting in such a request? I know how to do this with commands. Its fairly easy to configure claude to just ignore specific commands. One of our engineers committed a bunch of things to our claude.md file that I do not agree with. For now I just want to fix up that file but keep that change local until I have tested it for a while. The tricky thing is that I will be switching branches/committing/pushing etc in the interim so while I could just re-apply my changes to claude.MD , every time I switch branches, I would really rather not do so. If I can write a claude.local.md in such a way that claude will ignore my coworkers claude instructions that would be slick as the file is already ignored so I can keep it around without any effort while switching branches/pulling/etc. submitted by /u/kierumcak
