When I was growing up, I only ever heard that directed at me with warmth and respect. Now I’m in my 40s. Last week, as an older guy passed me in a narrow store aisle, he quietly and casually said, “excuse me, young man,” and it gave me the biggest smile. Hadn’t heard that directed at me in so long. And it made me realize for the first time that I can say that to younger guys now too. Is this still a common thing, that’s still received warmly, as long as it’s delivered with a respectful tone? submitted by /u/5erif
