AI engineers 4 years ago were built different. Training CNNs from scratch. Optimizing Random Forests. Writing LSTM models by hand. Basically doing push-ups with math. AI engineers today? “ChatGPT will handle it.” “Let’s just dump the whole database into the prompt.” “My API key got autocompleted by GPT.” “We can totally trust the LLM with client data.” The skill tree went from: Hardcore ML Engineer ↓ Prompt Whisperer Nobody really talks about this shift enough.
