Sometime in autumn (?) ChatGPT shit the bed hard (not the first time) and I switched everything to Claude and tried to use Anthropics structure and tools to their fullest. Now after the infamous 'Claude ate my x20 in half an hour" problem, that is still only partly solved, we’re still stuck with massive credibility problems. Claude implies it has read something while it hasn’t, looked at something while it hasn’t, pretending ‘there’s no mcp for that’ while there is and by god do I have to hit him in the face till he finally abides any rules nowadays. He even rewrites hooks to do something I don’t want and therefore built a hook for. I know, nothing new, but since those problems still exist and made Claude so much worse I want to chime in with the choir of people switching to other models for now. Claude always had a tendency for gaslighting, but by now it’s so unbearable that I actually became afraid of asking more complex things. It sometimes flies off the rails so hard that by now I’m not even sure it will randomly drop tables or even fully corrupt my git one day. I have backups x3 of course, but working feels more like a mine field than the fun we had two months ago. I guess I’ve realised we’re in the geocities phase of LLMs and quality and systems change so quick that the only viable solution is not to cling to any model, but keep all projects so flexible you can continue them with whatever model, explicitly avoiding to user model-specific techniques / tools and use monthly plans only, no buy in advance, no - which is sad - trusting the models or the companies at all. I can only urge newcomers to not build anything that explicitly NEEDS a specific model to work. It might stop working tomorrow and you don’t know when it will be back or in what form or at what cost - literally and figuratively. Stay independent. submitted by /u/No_Foundation_1051
