Living here as an international student and the “15 hours a week” rule as a non EU/EFTA feels like a total dead end. I’m starting to get pretty stressed about the lack of financial freedom and the job market here feels impossible to crack. Every internship I see is looking for 80% to 100% commitment. Even when I look for any job like hospitality, retail, basic admin, it feels like being non-EU and having basic German is an immediate no. I keep reading posts about how brutal the job market is right now and it’s making me feel like there’s zero future here. It’s a bit depressing to feel stuck in this loop where you legally can’t work enough to support yourself, but you also can’t find anyone willing to hire for that small 40% window. Has anyone actually managed to find a part-time role (literally anything) that fits the 15-hour limit? Would love some real talk or leads on where to even look for roles that actually accept this permit restriction. submitted by /u/msquared_18
