Seriously, can we please get a real solution to allow people to enjoy challenging content in the main game without being punished? Vardorvis is my favorite boss. I had ~20 orbs stockpiled from my ultor grind prior to leagues but never felt like I could try awakened vard. I am decent but not insane at PvM and despite the fight looking incredibly fun I couldn’t rationalize wasting a limited resource to try it (I only have a single account - an iron man). So I waited until leagues. In leagues, the fight was indeed super fun. Having to grind orbs for it was a bummer (I went dogger not afk water mage/thorns), but at least it was wayy faster than main game. After I farmed 30 orbs I learned the awakened fight. Initially, the sustain and damage from leagues let me get a grasp on the fight. Afterwards, I de-geared and challenged myself to actually learn the mechanics fully. Once I had used all the orbs I had farmed in leagues I felt SO close to actually being able to win the fight in the main game. I didn’t want to farm orbs anymore, I just wanted to do the fight. I decided to send it in main game, and despite getting him to 61 hp (twice!), I was not able to get the kill in my 20 orbs. I know I CAN kill him - if I can get him to 61 hp I can get him to 0. I’ve felt myself improving every step of the way. My clicks feel more accurate, I’m able to predict the mechanics better, and I’m “feeling” the ticks in a way I haven’t before. I wish I was able to feel this way and challenge myself more without having to work around an artificial restriction on how often I can fight the boss. But I’m locked out of that experience in main game now until I get more orbs. This isn’t a sob story - I made the choice to use my orbs in the main game instead of continuing to farm them in leagues and refine the fight further and I recognize that. But forcing players to only learn aspirational content in temporary game modes (where you still have to farm drops even for the privilege!) just prevents players from truly pushing themselves and enjoying the game fully. I love lists so to conclude here’s a list of what I dislike about awakener’s orbs: They heavily encourage players NOT to challenge themselves. If you only give players X shots at something you motivate them to only try those things when the have the best gear possible, even if they could learn the fight with worse gear in a vacuum. The way around this is leagues, which only happen every so often. I want to have the option to enjoy awesome challenging fights whenever I want, not be shoehorned into a certain 2 month period. Not to mention you still have to farm orbs in leagues as well. Even with leagues - there’s 5 sets of aspirational fights in the game, the 4 awakened bosses and Yama, but only 3 zones. Meaning you can never even experience all the cool fights in a single league on a single account. “Just practice on your main” is not a valid solution . Content should not be designed around players having multiple accounts. I started as an iron man many years ago and have no interest in leveling up a second account just to work around artificial constraints on content in the game I pay a single subscription for already. Please Jagex, allow me to experience the cool challenges you’ve put into this game without having to deal with unnecessary constraints like orbs/contracts. Much love, thanks for reading <3. submitted by /u/osrsshitpostbot
