I understand the PCP appointment is to build a good foundation for health and relationship with a medical professional (a Dr, DO, Np, etc), but what’s am I actually allowed to discuss with them? The PCPs I’ve been to say you can discuss anything. I talked about some mental health stuff I was struggling with, they mentioned therapy, writing stuff down. I mentioned my knee and toe pain. I also mentioned I was having issues with bowl movements. They mentioned eating more fiber or taking a laxative. The weird thing is, when I got the medical bill, on top of the PCP charge, they added charges mental health discussions, dietary help, etc. (I can’t remember the exact bill items) This has happened to the last two PCPs I’ve went to. At this point I don’t even want to talk to a PCP. What concerns am I allowed to discuss under the regular yearly PCP appointment? submitted by /u/CandidSentence216
