Hi all, We have a ~60m² backyard in VD, first floor, currently fully concrete and north-facing. We have an 11-month-old baby, and we’d like to transform the space into something nicer—not only safe and fun for him, but also enjoyable for us as adults (relaxing, maybe working, etc.). We’re considering a mix of play area + chill space, and possibly in the future a small garden office / playroom. A few questions:
- Flooring / covering the concrete Any recommendations for outdoor flooring (decking tiles, rubber tiles, etc.) that work well for babies and adults? Ideally something easy to clean, not too slippery, and that protects the concrete
- Layout ideas (baby + adults) Has anyone done a small backyard that works both as a kid-friendly space and a relaxing area for adults? Any smart zoning ideas?
- Garden office / small structure in Vaud Any experience building a small garden room/shed in Renens or Vaud? What are the real constraints (permits, size limits, PPE/co-ownership rules)?
- North-facing backyard Since we don’t get much sun, any tips to make it feel warm and inviting?
- Companies / help Any recommendations around Lausanne/Renens for companies that can help redesign a small backyard? For context: It’s an apartment in a PPE (co-ownership), so modifications may require approval We’re open to DIY or working with professionals Thanks a lot! submitted by /u/Ok-Pin-2344
