When I was a postgraduate student, I interned at a criminal law firm for a few weeks and had to read case histories and catalogue evidence of crimes done against children. It was heartbreaking and sickening , I wondered about the kind of people who would allow this kind of horror to happen and I literally did not want to leave my flat in the weeks following and became hypervigilant and protective of any children after my internship.
