Yesterday I was on an SBB train and something very Swiss happened. A guy got on with a takeaway coffee. The train started moving, he almost lost balance, and a few drops spilled on the floor. Nothing dramatic, like half a sip. He looked at the floor for 2 seconds, then at the people around him, clearly embarrassed. I thought that was it. At the next stop, he quickly stepped out, went to one of those little kiosks, bought a pack of tissues, came back in before the doors closed, and cleaned the floor where he had spilled. Nobody told him to, nobody complained, nobody even reacted. The wildest part: this wasn’t some fancy panoramic train. Just a normal one on a normal day. I’ve lived in a few countries and I honestly can’t imagine this happening in most places. It’s such a small thing, but it made me realize how much the “shared space” mentality is ingrained here. Curious what small everyday moments made you go “yep, this is Switzerland”? submitted by /u/No-Football-2397
