Yesterday I was using Claude Code to create a plan. Midway through planning, my 5-hour limit window got over, so I stopped, closed my laptop, and continued in the morning. When I resumed, Claude Code created the plan using Opus 4.7 High . The plan itself was fairly small, not some massive multi-file architecture plan or huge refactor. But within around 1 minute , almost 90% of my limit was exhausted. This was the only Claude Code chat/session I was using. I wasn’t running multiple parallel chats, multiple Claude Code instances, or anything like that. After that, I changed the setting to Medium and tried to implement the plan. Again, the remaining limit got used up in another couple of minutes. Has anyone else experienced this? Is Claude Code suddenly consuming usage extremely aggressively on High/Opus, or could this be a bug with my account/session? It feels a bit unreasonable that a small plan + a short implementation attempt can burn through almost the entire usage window in just a few minutes. submitted by /u/matrixmayhem
